Personal Style: Warm Weather Vacationing in Style!

My family and I are traveling down to SoCal tomorrow morning for an extended weekend, post-graduation trip before I start work next Wednesday. We’ll be relaxing in Indio, Calif. on Thursday and Friday, then traveling to Anaheim and visiting Disneyland on the weekend! I’m super excited to leave the Bay Area, especially since my boyfriend Reggie (who has an internship with Goodrich Aerostructures in Chula Vista for the summer — congrats to him!) will be meeting us to go to Disneyland on Saturday and Sunday. With that being said, I have a few challenges ahead of me: (1) dressing for extremely hot weather (forecast for Indio tomorrow? 107 degrees!); (2) looking good for my boyfriend and appropriate for my family; and (3) staying true to my personal style amidst all of the elements! Personal Style: Graduation Manicure

After a super tough week last week, I needed to treat myself to a mani-pedi — especially with graduation right around the corner! I decided to hit up a nail salon a couple of blocks away from Santa Clara University, and I tried the shellac manicure one more time. For those who don’t know, shellac manicures consist of simply applying colored gel (the type that manicurists use when applying gel tips onto your finger) directly onto the nail. It can last for a few weeks! (Note: if you’re a commitment-phobe, especially when it comes to your nail color, don’t try this!) In honor of graduation, I decided to pay homage to SCU and get a maroon color, reminiscent of my school colors. (The best part? Rather than having a name, these gels have numbers. The number of the color I chose? 707, a.k.a. the area code of my hometown of Vallejo, Calif.!) Also, staying true to recent beauty trends, I decided to get an accent nail. I had the manicurist paint both ring fingers a …

Boyfriend Style: Casual Cool in La Jolla

One of the things that I’m most excited about once I start my job? The amazing employee discount, of course! I can’t wait to be able to buy a bunch of clothes for both myself and my loved ones, especially my boyfriend! Now, my boyfriend Reggie has an extremely casual sense of style, and I know that he’s been trying to elevate it to make it more mature, more hip. I’ve been trying to give him some styling tips over the past few months, and I feel like he’s picked up a few. For example, check out this outfit! He just picked up a new pair of Ray-Bans to wear during his graduation ceremony from UC San Diego, and this ensemble is a perfect way for him to show off his new buy. This outfit exemplifies merging casual with cool. Just because he was simply going to the mall with his family, that doesn’t mean that Reggie simply needs to slip on shorts and a T-shirt. Way to go, babe! :) Outfit details: Shirt, Gap …

Trends: Summer Spikes and Studs!

I’ve been M.I.A. for nearly a month now, and I blame the end of the school year. Things became really hectic toward the end of May and beginning of June — and everything came to a head just a couple of days ago. That’s because I’m officially a college graduate! Too excited! So now that I have officially 1-1/2 weeks of summer vacation, I want to take that brief period of time to start to formulate my summer 2012 style —especially since I start work at Gap Inc. within the next 10 days! Imagine my surprise and sartorial joy when I received my daily email from Urban Outfitters today, which featured the spiked and studded shoes from Jeffrey Campbell! Ever since I slipped on that (unfortunately, one half-size too big) pair of Deena and Ozzy spiked wedges, I’ve been obsessed with finding some super edgy shoes for work. How fabulous would spiky flats look with a pair of khaki shorts and a casual white button-up from Gap, or studded wedges with cropped dark denim jeans …
